*Ervin Ekis died and Barbara is now the wife of Ted Mulcahy. They are current
members.
First Organizational Meeting was held at the Ebb Tide (present Dockside parking
lot) on April 7, 1992.
Twenty three boaters attended the meeting. A By-Law committee was assembled
that evening.
Maiden Voyage was on May 3, 1992. Eight boats and twenty eight members
participated in an Intracoastal cruise to St. Augustine.
First Commodore On May 21, 1992 FBYC was formed with the election of Tom
McBride, a position he held for two years.
Other Officers Charlie McCraney, Vice Commodore; Danny Boyle, Rear
Commodore; Ed Finney, Fleet Captain; Margie Kinney, Treasurer and Joan Finney,
Secretary. The Board of Directors were: Leonard Kelly, Tom Donaghy, Beryl
Snyder and Charlotte McBride as alternate.
On June 13, 1992, with the new officers in place, the club ventured down to
Kennedy Point Yacht club in Titusville, FL.
By the July meeting in 1992 FBYC had fifty members.
The first Change of Watch and Christmas Party was held at Captain Jacks
Restaurant (present Shark House) in December 1992.
FBYC won ‘Best Float in the 1992 Fourth of July Parade in Flagler Beach. On
July 23, 1993 the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce gave FBYC the Chamber
Award of Appreciation for its participation in the Fourth of July Parade. FBYC
has participated in several Fourth of July Parades and in the year 2000, out of
72 entries, won the Best Float in the parade. FBYC also participated in several
Columbus Day Festivals.
In 1993 Renee & Tom Donaghy presented the idea of having a January Commodore’s
Ball for the Change of Watch. After attending many in the Baltimore area while
members of two large Yacht Clubs. The idea was accepted by the members and on
January 29, 1994 they presented the first Commodore’s Ball honoring Commodore
Ed Finney and Past Commodore Tom McBride. The ball consisted of a Cocktail Hour
in the Hospitality Room with drinks and hors d’oeuvres from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM,
the Ball was from 6:00 PM to 1:00 AM. The Hospitality Room was reopened at
Midnight and stayed open til 4:00 AM. At 8:00 AM the Hospitality Room reopened
for Continental Breakfast with lots of doughnuts, bagels, coffee, juices etc.
Of course there were also Bloody Mary’s, Champagne and other spirits. The cost
- $28.00 per person or $89.00 per couple with dinner, room for overnight and
everything else. The attendance - 96 people, with the big majority staying
overnight. FBYC profit - $197.71 plus a lot of leftovers.
TIDBITS
1994: FBYC started meeting at the Ocean Marina Clubhouse on A1A. The
first newsletter editor was Janice Landgraf (now Janice DeZego). A contest was
held to name the monthly newsletter. The winner was Rosemarie Price for the
name ‘Nautical Notes’. In October the ‘Holiday Boat Parade’ invited FBYC to
participate in the parade. A November Poker Run and Bar-B-Que was postponed due
to Bing’s docks being underwater. Some other early members in 1994 were Ralph
and Sandra Garcia, who still are members.
1995: The second Annual Commodore’s Ball was held at the Ramada Resort
in Daytona Beach honoring Commodore Tom Johns and Past Commodore Ed Finney. The
attendance - 84 people. Several members of Kennedy Point Yacht Club attended.
The MC at the Ball stated that FBYC meant “FREE BEER YOU’ALL COME”. The cost
this year $30.00 per person. Profit - $57.91 plus a lot of leftovers. In May,
FBYC had an outing at the Bull Creek Fish Camp. Member Skip Neidhardt used his
seaplane to fly members over the St. Johns River, etc by taking off and landing
in Dead Lake, the charge - .05/lb. Nice outing. FBYC membership was taking a
nosedive. Rear Commodore Denis Thornton, who ran the Flagler Beach Marina,
pulled the Club out by getting several new members. The Holiday Boat Parade was
a disaster. FBYC had a 46’ boat entered. The theme was a shuttle (made out of
PVC and sheets). The shuttle ‘crew’ were dressed in tinfoil (designed by
Barbara Ekis. The captain, Rear Commodore Denis Thornton steered this mighty
vessel up the Intracoastal from Flagler Beach to Palm Coast. The wind was
blowing southeast at gusts of 50 mph. The temperature was in the 30’s (God
knows what the wind chill was). While passing the judging stand the shuttle
‘sheets’ were flying everywhere. The ‘astronauts’ were huddled behind any
rigging they could find. The good news - FBYC still managed to get third place
out of several entries. The bad news - Denis’ broke down on the way to Flagler
Beach and ran aground. He, Jamie Oakley (his marina mechanic) and Bucky (Denis’
dog) spent the night on the boat, needless to say. Jamie came from England to
work at the Flagler Bridge Marina which was owned by a guy from England and run
by Denis. Jamie had some problems earlier when he was bitten in the leg by a
shark in Daytona Beach. Jamie gave a class on small marine engines at a FBYC
meeting in 2004??.
1996: The third Annual Commodore’s Ball was held at the Ramada Resort in
Daytona Beach honoring Commodore Tom Johns for a second term. Only 35 people
attended (membership was low). This time there was a loss instead of a profit
(-$195.24. However the Ball was not about making a profit and a lot of leftover
booze was given to the Bar Committee). In February Skip Neidhardt again brought
his seaplane to Bull Creek Fish Camp for members. This time the charge was
.08/lb (inflation?). In May FBYC cruised for a two day outing at Kennedy Point
Yacht Club. On Thursday, May 16th a Shuttle Launch was postponed until Sunday,
May 18th (KPYC is directly west of JFK Space Center). Commodore Tom Johns got
up at 5:00AM and supplied the piers with coffee and doughnuts from Dunkin‘
Donuts. Some members were given tickets to the launch by members Don and Elaine
Sabesky who worked in the space industry in Colorado. However after partying
til late on Saturday there was a no show (they had to be at the Space Center by
4:00 AM so the gates could be closed during the launch. Those that didn’t go
were not disappointed as the launch was picture perfect from KPYC. The Endeavor
went off at 6:29 AM. If it had been ten minutes later it would be unseen due to
the rising sun. A tour of Sea Ray was held in May. In April there was a great
trip to the Daytona Dog Track. The food was superb and the dogs were speedy
(for some). The May outing was to Holly Bluff Marina in Deland. FBYC rented
three or four deck boats and toured the St. John’s River. Each member paid
$15.00. Another good time! The June trip was to Astor, FL to cruise the Blue
Springs and swim. FBYC marched in the Fourth of July Parade in Flagler Beach.
That was about the ony event during the summer. The membership had dropped
considerably and on October 24, 1996 a special meeting was held to discuss the
future of the Club. Almost all of the members attended. It was proposed to drop
the dues to $50.00 and to call some of the members who did not renew to come
back to the Club. Some By-Law changes were suggested concerning boats. It was
proposed to allow non-boat owners to vote and hold some offices (except any of
the four line officers). Nothing could be accomplished that evening as the
changes had to be approved by the entire membership. Another special meeting
was held on November 14, 1996 to try to fill the slate of officers for 1997.
Some offices were still held up due to the By-Law changes not being approved as
yet and the Commodore (Tom Johns) had already served two years. Also the
Commodore’s Ball was discussed as the Club had laid out a lot of dollars for
the Ramada Resort and the band. On November 16, 1996 Barbara Ekis and her
committee hosted a little party to try to get new members. A Merry Olde England
show was put on by her which made a fool (happy fool) out of some members. The
audience howled!
FBYC managed to get eight new members that night (good times were coming). Four
of those members were (future Commodore) Howard Graves and his lovely wife
Judith, who are still members and John and Kitty Di Meo. Kitty is now an
honorary member and of course John (deceased) was a real workaholic. In
November the election of officers was held and Denis Thornton (another jolly
olde Englishman) was elected Commodore. Denis started looking for new members
and he succeeded big time. FBYC was gaining members big time. Six boats were
entered in the Holiday Boat Parade.
1997:The fourth Annual Commodore’s Ball was held at the Ramada Inn
Surfside in Daytona Beach Shores honoring Commodore Denis Thornton. Things were
looking up. A total of 77 people attended with almost all doing an overnight. A
profit of $286.93 was made. The hospitality room was a little late being opened
in the morning due to Renee and Tom Donaghy’s room being attached to the hospitality
room. They had returned from celebrating their 40th Wedding Anniversary in England
on Friday. They had closed the hospitality room at 4:00 AM and the first knock on
the door came shortly before 7:00 AM (so much for hospitality). In February FBYC
members and guests went to the dogs (racing and food that is)
at the Daytona Kennel Club. A fishing committee was formed and workshops were held
near the old Flagler Beach bridge. Present members Charlie Ebel and Howard Graves
and Don Young (Kitty DeMeo’s husband) showed some of the members a few tricks. In
March the membership was capped at 100 members (in November, 1996 we had 18 members).
There was no Fleet Captain as yet, so you can see that it is a very tough job. In
March a Turkey Shoot was held at the Bimini Bar in Bunnell. RC John DeMeo introduced
the new Club Burgee, which was much improved over the old one. It was passed that all
new members receive the FBYC Burgee when they join the Club. In April the FBYC
First Annual Fishing Tournament was held and Tom Steinmetz, on Charlie Ebel‘s boat
won first prize. He caught a 22 1/2” Red Drum and a 16” Sea Trout. Also in April
mid week boat outings were initiated with a run to visit Marineland. Some of the
new members that brought the total to 100 were Jane & Paul Van Buren and Joyce &
Jim O’ Meara. There were also five on the waiting list. At last a Fleet Captain,
John Darrow. In May FBYC joined the Flagler County and Flagler Beach Chamber of
Commerce(s). The membership cap was raised to 110. June saw another trip to Kennedy
Point Yacht Club in Titusville. It was not well attended by FBYC. The Fourth of July
Parade was well attended as FBYC was the largest participating group. In August we
had a bar-b-que at Ocean Marina and some hot grease got on our brand new canopy and
burned it to the ground. In November many members participated in the American Heart
Walk. Sandra Garcia and Marilyn Ward led the Club in the ‘macarena’ and FBYC won the
‘Team Spirit Award’. On November 1, 1997 FBYC had it’s first ‘Surf Fishing/Picnic’
across from the Golden Lion. Turnout was great! Charlie Ebel was the big winner. The
FBYC Bylaws were put on disk for ease in amending. A CD for $2,000.00 was purchased
to start saving for a permanent Club House. In December an initiation fee of $50.00
was put into effect for new members. The Holiday Boat Parade went to the dogs. Really!
FBYC was the odds on favorite to win first place. We had a giant whale with a blowhole
and Santa mounted on top. It took weeks to make it and mount it on VC Mike Salzer’s boat.
Everyone at the parade said no one could beat it. Along came a little 15 foot runabout
with some dogs on it. The dogs had small antlers on their heads. Nothing else! The judges
gave the dogs first place and FBYC second.
1998: In January a $100.00 initiation fee was
put into effect. All new members with a boat were to receive a FBYC Burgee
and a FBYC Shirt. New members without a boat will receive two FBYC
shirts. The annual dues were raised to $52.00 per couple. All boat
owners were placed in flotillas depending on size, speed, type, etc. Fleet
Captain John Darrow chose flotilla Captains. The Board and the General
Membership discussed participation in the Holiday Boat Parade. At issue
was the fact that FBYC and other clubs and individuals put a lot of money and
time into decorating their boats and judges award prizes on something that may
be ‘cute’ (i.e., dogs with antlers). The Boat Parade Committee assured the
participating clubs that new rules will be laid out to the future judges.
The fifth Annual Commodore’s Ball was held at the Ramada Inn Surfside in Daytona
Beach Shores honoring Commodore Denis Thornton. Jim & Libby Kania did
an excellent job in organizing it (along with much help from other
members). The Commodore of Kennedy Point Yacht Club, Jerry Cooper, swore
in officers. Our own Jim De Zego (Cap ‘n Jim) emceed the event. A
great time was had by all. The FBYC Valentine’s Day Party was Sold Out
(now that was refreshing). On February 21st several members had a great
time as our trip took us by water, car and whatever to ’Sloppy Joe’s’. Key
West? Nah! Daytona Beach! In the ’for sale by owner’ section of
Nautical Notes member Nick Bereda placed an ad for a 100’ x 100’ lot for
$19,900.00. Whoa! What is that lot worth now? In March FBYC
Jackets were introduced. Also in March the Club had a great time at the
Daytona Kennel Club and the food was fabulous (not the dogs). In April all
of the County Boat Clubs met at the Italian American Club for dinner and a
lecture on ’Water Management’. FBYC was well represented and all proudly
wore their ’colors’. FBYC members seriously considered making money to
purchase a clubhouse or land. VC Mike Salzer pushed the effort and a
Building Fund was established. Five or six members were willing to put up
$10,000.00 each to fund it and hold the mortgage. The hunt was on for
property and a few members looked at likely prospects. This effort
continued throughout the year. In May several members toured the Sea Ray
Boat Plant with lunch to follow at the Golden Lion. Also in May was a
pleasant trip to the Tomoka River Boat Club. In June the Board voted to
pay the reinstatement fee for incorporation to the State of Florida. The
cost was about $500.00 due to only filing once in six years. Incorporation
was desired in case of lawsuits. The corporation will be sued, not the
individual Board Members. On June 6th a ‘Great Steak Cookout’ was held at
Flagship Landing Park in Flagler Beach. The fire that destroyed many homes
in Palm Coast spoiled this outing. Sixty members and guests attending
watched in horror as the fire progressed in what was thought to be a controlled
burn. On June 26th and 27th FBYC again had a great time at Kennedy Point
Yacht Club in Titusville. Nine boats made the trip. Needless to say
FBYC or any other organization participated in the Fourth of July Parade as the
town of Flagler Beach was shut down. All that was visible on A1A was a
hazy cloud and the smell of fire. Commodore Denis Thornton put out a
proposal to purchase the land at the Flagler Bridge Marina. A
Clubhouse/Bar/Restaurant would be built. Shares would be $5,000 each and
150 would be sold at first bidding. Shareholders would get special
discounts plus a return on their investment each year. Member Tom Donaghy,
who had successfully sold $60,000.00 in Bonds to rebuild the piers and update
the electrical system at Bodkin Yacht Club in Pasadena, MD in 1978 where he was
Fleet Captain, also pushed this plan. It was limited at that figure and a
lot more could have been sold. The plan(s) had a lot of backing by the
members. However another party purchased the Marina. September saw
another trip to Sloppy Joe’s (still in Daytona). However Sloppy Joe’s
apparently went out of business and, not being daunted, we found an Irish Bar on
Beach Street and twenty-eight members had a great time. BoatUS awarded a
grant to install signs to identify canals in Palm Coast. A member of the
Palm Coast Boating Association, Vyto Atkash, spearheaded this. FBYC has
always maintained a liaison with BoatUS. In October the Club toured
Whitney Lab at Marineland. FBYC members again participated in the Heart
Walk in Palm Coast. The golf tournament was held in Saint Augustine the
first prize was a $50.00 gift certificate for the Damn Yankee, which was won by
Bob Moses and Bettie Barnes. A playoff for second place saw Judith Graves
get a hole in one. A successful ‘Skipper Saver Program’ was run by Jim
& Libby Kania and Paul Van Buren. Many members attended. The
annual beach fishing party was held at Snack Jack’s. Thirty-four people
attended. The Holiday Boat Parade saw our Club entry, Jim DeZego’s boat
‘Italia’ have a mechanical failure at the very last minute and was unable to
enter the parade. Over one hundred people attended the annual Christmas
Party.
1999: The elected new Officers of the FBYC are as follows:
Commodore: John Darrow
Vice Commodore: John DiMeo
Rear Commodore: Libby Kania
Fleet Captain: Paul Van Buren
Secretary: Sue Morgan
Treasurer: Renee Donaghy
Board of Directors: Howard Graves
Blaine Stetler
PC Denis Thornton
On January 23rd the Commodore’s Ball was held at the Ramada Inn, in Daytona Beach
Shores, honoring Commodore John Darrow and Past Commodore Denis Thornton. the
attendance was 110 people and a great time was had by all. The Van Burens and the
Graves led a fine committee in making the Ball a huge success. VC John DiMeo made
posters promoting FBYC to be placed in store fronts in Palm Coast and Flagler Beach.
The Club membership in January was 89 members. In February Judy Graves took over
the editors job for the Nautical Notes from Tom Donaghy. On February 20th a CPR
course was given by the Port Orange Fire & Rescue team at Ocean Marina. The fee
was $15.00 per person and 23 members received certificates. On February 28th a
‘Sea Hunt’ was scheduled however inclement weather cancelled the event. On March
10th a Surf Fishing party was held on the beach at Hightides at Snack Jack. About
12 fishermen (women) participated and another 16 or so watched. Bea Franchini
caught the only fish and was named FBYC Fisherwoman of the Year. On March 20th
a class was given on Chart reading. On March 21st a Hot Dog Bash was held at a
very windy Bing’s Landing. Over 50 people attended FC Paul Van Buren thanked all
the help he received in making a windy day a huge success. A 50’s/60’s dance was
held on March 27th at Ocean Marina with pizzas and subs. Attendees were dressed
in their best 50/60 outfit (no zoot suits). Jim DeZego (AKA Cap’n Jim) provided
the music and entertainment. He also won the Best Dressed Male award. Barbara
Ekis (Mulcahy) won the Best Dressed Female award. Other awards were Carmen
Boyle, Best Hoola Hoop Performance and Eunice and Lenny Palumbo Best ‘Twist‘
Couple. Renee Donaghy thanked her committee and Cap’n Jim for a very profitable
($267.00) evening. On March 28th the Blessing of the Fleet was held with 15 boats
participating, led by Joel Kaplan. On April 16/17th FBYC once again visited Kennedy
Point Yacht Club. Seven boats and 30 people made the trip. Paul Franchini and Howard
Graves did an excellent job in barbequing and preparing the food. On May 1st a Basic
Engine Maintenance course was given by Jim DeZego. On May 23rd there was a great
turnout of members at the Tomoka Yacht Club. A great time was had by all. Music
was provided by Tim Rippey and his ‘Phantom of the Opera’ performance. FBYC gave
a Kudo to Nick Bereda. Nick and his crew towed a disabled boat from Palm Harbor cut
to Bing’s Landing. At the June meeting a new set of By-Laws was accepted unanimously
by the membership. On June 5th a very successful ‘New Years Party’ was held at the
Damn Yankee Sandra Garcia, Marilyn Ward and Renee Donaghy did a great job in ‘bringing
in the new?? year. On June 27th, In the absence of FC Paul Van Buren, Joel Kaplan did
a great job in taking the club to St. Augustine for the second annual golf outing. All
enjoyed lunch at the A1A Ale House. FBYC again participated in the fourth of July
Parade in Flagler Beach (July 3rd). Jeff Uhlein of Bridgetender Marine supplied a new
boat and trailer for use in the parade. Forty people and nine boats showed up for the
July 18th Matanzas Beach Blast. Flotilla Commander Paul Franchini did a great job with
the barbeque. In August FBYC rented a climate controlled storage space from Fraser’s
Mini Storage in Bunnell to take better control of their inventory. Also the Board
authorized the placing of advertisements in the newsletter to help offset costs. On
August 22nd several boats went to the Old Florida Club Restaurant (near Down the Hatch
Restaurant). In September Commodore John Darrow came across a couple who had lost the
trailer (home) to Hurricane Floyd. He found that they were living in a local motel (one
room) as that is all they could afford. They had two girls, 17 and 10 and an 8 year old
boy. He called the Board members and asked if FBYC could help. They agreed and Barbara
Ekis and Treasurer Renee Donaghy presented them with a $100.00 in gift certificates for
a local grocery. A member of the Club (who did not want to be named) provided them with
one of his properties to stay free of charge until they could get back on their feet.
He also contacted a local church and they provided them with food. The parents both
got jobs and are renting a house in Flagler Beach. The September meeting had a great
sale on FBYC license plates and they sold like cold hotcakes. On September 19th The
scheduled trip on the St Johns from Hontoon Landing to the Old Spanish Sugar Mill Grill
and Griddle House was cancelled due to bad weather. On September 25th the Club again
participated in the Heart Walk. This marked the third year for FBYC. The October boat
outing was to McKay’s Pub in Daytona. Seven boats and 41 people enjoyed the
festivities. On November 14th FBYC hosted a Turkey Shoot at the Bimini Bar In
unnell. Several locals attended to participate in the shoot. Prizes of turkeys and
hams were awarded. The Bimini is owned by FBYC Charter members Charlie McCraney and
Margie Kinney. A good time was had by shooters and non shooters. On December 11th
the annual Christmas Party was held with a full house turnout. This would be the last
event for FBYC in the 20th Century. VC John DiMeo, Secretary Sue Morgan and Treasurer
Renee Donaghy decided to rest for awhile and turn their jobs over to others.
2000:The elected new Officers of the FBYC are as follows:
Commodore John Darrow
Vice Commodore Paul Van Buren
Rear Commodore Howard Graves
Fleet Captain Tom Lawrence
Scretary Claudia Towne
Treasurer Joel Kaplan
Board of Directors Blaine Stetler
*PC Tom Johns
Sue Morgan
*PC Tom Johns left in May and Paul Franchini was appointed as a Director.
WOW! Here we go for the next hundred years. What better way to start off is there but
to talk about the huge success of our Commodore’s Ball at the Treasure Island Inn In
Daytona Beach. Special awards were given to departing VC John DiMeo, Secretary Sue
Morgan and Treasurer Renee Donaghy for their many years of service. Paul Franchini and
Mary Johnson were also presented with awards for their service throughout 1999. FBYC is
and always has been a fun loving and boat loving great group of people. When one leaves
we can always find someone else to take their place. Hopefully, through the years, that
will never change. On February 27th twelve boats and 57 members and guests participated
in a Treasure Hunt. The captains and crews of 4 of these boats tied for first place.
Lunch followed at the Palm Coast Yacht Club and an FBYC burgee was presented to them by
Commodore Darrow. On March 12th sixty-six members and guests participated in the Bing’s
Landing BBQ. Eight boats were inspected by the Coast Guard Auxiliary. On March 25th
Captain Jim DeZego gave a basic engine course for inboard and outboard engines. On April
2nd fifty-one people and 14 boats enjoyed the festivities of Camachee Cove in St
Augustine. On April 16th the Blessing of the Fleet was administered from the pavilion at
Harborside Inn. A raft-up party was held later at Cimarron Basin. On May 5th and 6th
twenty-five members and guests and 8 boats went to Kennedy Point Yacht Club in Titusville.
In an unfortunate incident the Townes lost their prop. That was remedied by fellow member
John Raybon who went to Halifax Marina to purchase another prop. Everything turned out
fine. At the May meeting, the membership voted to raise the initiation fee and dues to
reflect the Florida Sales Tax and increasing costs of membership. On May 20th six boats
made their way to the Conch House in St Augustine. Twenty-five members enjoyed the luncheon,
music and pool. A very enjoyable weekend. On June 11th (a rainy day) a BBQ was held at
Matanzas Inlet. Despite the weather there was a good turnout of boats and people. On June
24th a Skipper Saver Course was held at the Ocean Marina with 21 members particpating. VC
Paul Van Buren and RC Howard Graves presented the course. Part of the course was putting
on a life jacket while treading water. Sue Morgan showed them how. A big turnout for the
Fourth of July Parade A well decorated boat and many dressed up historical characters
including Barbara Mulcahy’s late husband Ted dressed as Uncle Sam and the late Bettie Barnes
as the Statue of Liberty. The whole design was presented by members Larry Shipow and Sue
Morgan with a lot of help from Mary Johnson and Renee Donaghy in getting all the people to
help decorate and march in the parade. It turned out to be really good as FBYC won first
place for a float. Some thought that this was a first but it was not. FBYC won a first
place way back in the 20th Century. On July 8th a modest turnout attended a doubleheader
at Jackie Robinson Stadium to see the Daytona Cubs lose both games to the Jupiter
Hammerheads. Not much happened in August as the event planned had to be postponed due to
the weather. On a sad note, on August 23rd one of our members, Marilyn Ward died. She was
a real go-getter. If you needed someone to do something for the Club, Marilyn volunteered.
She served on many committees through the years. She will be missed. On September 6th a
surf fishing party was held at Snack Jack. This event has been put on by Tom Donaghy each
year and has always been very successful. However only 16 people attended, while 28 had
signed up. This does not work too good when you have to reserve seats at a very popular
restaurant. On September 24th the trip to Matanzas on September 23rd was finally held at
the Ocean Marina Club House! FC Tom Lawrence tried and tried for Matanzas but the weather
would not cooperate. On October 15th forty members and guests and 8 boats went to St
Augustine for the annual golf tournament. VC Paul Van Buren and Paul Franchini had the
two lowest scores. Congratulations to Joyce O’Meara for having the highest score. Everyone
enjoyed lunch after the tournament at Harry’s Seafood Bar and Grill. There was a Halloween
Costume Party scheduled for October 28th but details are not available. On December 8th a
big turnout attended the Annual Holiday Party at the Elks Club in Palm Coast. Due to a
double commitment with FBYC and the Special Olympics, the Commodore’s Ball was postponed
until April 28, 2001. A meeting will be called on January 20, 2001 at the Ocean Marina to
perform the change of watch for the new officers.
To be continued.
